October’s Question of the Month – What’s the First Book You Remember Reading?

Editor · 24 October 2024 ·

📚 “Sophie found she couldn’t have her bath because the tiger had drunk all the water in the tap.”

Recognise that quote? It’s from The Tiger Who Came to Tea by Judith Kerr—a classic many of us remember from childhood.

This month, we’re asking: What’s the first book you remember reading?

Was it one that made you laugh? Sparked your imagination? Maybe even got you hooked on books for life?

We’d love to hear your memories. Pop in and tell us over a cuppa!

🥫☕️ We’re open 10am–4pm, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

October’s Word of the Month – Irenology

Editor · 22 October 2024 ·

😁 This month’s word is a little different—and a lot more peaceful.

Irenology

👉 [irenol-o-gy]

noun

the study of peace

At a time when the world can feel noisy and divided, it’s a reminder that peace isn’t just a concept—it’s something we can learn about, work toward, and practice in our everyday lives.

Kindness in Action – Supporting North Walsham High School’s Breakfast Club

Editor · 22 October 2024 ·

Kindness! We were proud to support North Walsham High School this term with a donation towards two new toastersfor their newly improved Breakfast Club.

The feedback has been fantastic, with students saying they feel more energised and ready to learn in lessons—a great reminder of how small acts can have a big impact.

We’re so pleased to have helped get their first half-term off to a strong start.

👏 A big thank you to the school for all they do, and for the kind words.

Police and Crime Commissioner Visits North Walsham Phoenix Group

Editor · 1 October 2024 ·

Last night, North Walsham Phoenix Group was proud to host Norfolk’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Sarah Taylor (pictured right), as part of the ongoing 25/29 Plan consultation.

The discussion centred around key concerns affecting local residents, especially speeding and antisocial behaviour—issues that continue to be raised across our community.

A huge thank you to North Walsham Town Council for their active support, particularly through the deployment of SAM-2 speed awareness cameras. Town Clerk Wendy (pictured left) is currently managing a list of priority areas for camera placement, helping ensure that community concerns are heard and acted upon.

We’re grateful to everyone who came along to contribute to this important conversation. Your voices are helping to shape a safer, stronger North Walsham.
