Finding a Spark: A Plea for a New Electrician

Editor · 22 January 2023 ·

The ongoing renovation of our beloved building has been an exciting journey filled with promise and potential. However, as with any project of this scale, unforeseen challenges can arise. We are faced with one such challenge that has led us to a new chapter in our renovation story.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, our current electrical contractor is unable to complete the work necessary to bring our vision to life. While this news may have initially posed a setback, we choose to see it as a new opportunity.

Norfolk is currently experiencing a scarcity of skilled tradespeople. The demand for their expertise often surpasses the available workforce, leaving projects like ours in need of a guiding spark. This scarcity is not unique to our region but rather a reflection of a broader trend across the country. As the skilled trades continue to be in high demand, finding the right professionals for our project has become an invaluable quest.

We extend a heartfelt plea to the talented electricians of Norfolk and beyond. We are in search of a partner who shares our vision for the future of our cherished building.

To the electricians who are as committed to their craft as we are to our renovation, we invite you to join us in this exciting endeavor.

As we embark on this search for a new electrician, we remain steadfast in our commitment to the highest standards of quality and integrity. The renovation of our building is not just a project—it is a testament to our community’s spirit, resilience, and boundless potential.

To the tradespeople who are ready to leave their mark on North Walsham’s landscape, we eagerly await your partnership. Together, we will create something truly extraordinary.

If you are an electrician interested in collaborating with us on this transformative project, we invite you to reach out. Your expertise, dedication, and passion are the missing pieces we need to bring our vision to fruition.

Contact us today to learn more about this exciting opportunity to be a part of our vibrant future.

Discount supermarket to open in North Walsham

Editor · 3 November 2022 ·

A discount supermarket will open in North Walsham after a local charity was awarded £27,000 funding.

North Walsham Phoenix Group have been granted the money from the Norfolk Community Foundation through the Nourishing Norfolk Fund to support the creation of a low-cost community supermarket in the former Barclays building on the town’s Market Place.

Mal Gray, chairman of North Walsham Phoenix Group, said: “We are pleased to have the support of Nourishing Norfolk to be able to bring this social supermarket to the heart of our town.

“We want everyone to have access to affordable nutritional food.”

A low-cost, community supermarket will open in the former Barclays building, on North Walsham Market Place, now home to local charity the North Walsham Phoenix Group.

The Phoenix Group is a North Walsham charity, aiming to bring vital services and support to the town and district.

Renovation work on the Barclays building began in early September and aims to be complete at the end of the year.

The space will boast a cafe area, a recording studio in the old bank vault and an accessible toilet open to the public.

The plans for the upper floors are yet to be revealed.

Lucy Shires, county councillor for North Walsham East said: “As our communities begin to feel the impact of the cost of living crisis, we hope that this supermarket will ease some of the financial pressures that residents face.

“We don’t want people to have to choose between heating and eating.”

The supermarket will be hosted on the ground floor of the building next to a café area.

Claire Cullens, chief executive of the Norfolk Community Foundation, said: “Norfolk Community Foundation is delighted to support this much needed project that will make a real difference in the community.

“We wish them every success with their work.”
