Paston College Takeover: Community Pantry and Coffee Shop

Exciting News:

Paston College students will be taking over our Community Pantry and Coffee Shop on Thursdays in July! This initiative provides young people with valuable work experience in a retail and hospitality environment.

Event Details:

  • Dates:
    • Thursday, 4th July 9:30 am to 12:00 pm
    • Thursday, 18th July 9:30 am to 12:00 pm
    • Thursday, 25th July 9:30 am to 12:00 pm
  • Location: Phoenix Building

What to Expect:

  • Community Engagement: Come along and enjoy a chat and refreshments!
  • Support and Donations: Join the Community Pantry and buy or donate goods.
  • Training Sessions: Your support helps our young people gain practical skills and experience.

Pantry and Coffee Shop Opening Times: Our regular opening hours are from 10 am to 4 pm every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. We look forward to seeing you on these special Thursdays!

June’s Most Popular Pantry Item

New Favourite in the Pantry:

Our pantry saw a new favourite in June! Chicken Instant Noodles topped the list as the most popular item among our members.

Pantry Opening Times: We are open from 10 am to 4 pm every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Visit us to stock up on your favourite items and explore new products.

What is the Community Pantry?

About Our Community Pantry:

We are proud to be part of the Nourishing Norfolk Network, supported by the Norfolk Community Foundation. Learn more about this initiative here.

Membership and Benefits:

  • Open to Anyone in NR28: Our pantry is open to anyone with an NR28 postcode.
  • Annual Membership: £2.50
  • Discounted Goods: We offer discounted food and household goods without means testing. Shopping with us helps stretch your money further and allows us to expand our product range faster.

Our Impact:

  • Not-for-Profit: Every penny you spend in the pantry is reinvested back into our operations.
  • Membership Growth: We had 117 members at the end of June.
  • New Products: We added 22 new product lines in June.

Pantry Opening Times: We are open from 10 am to 4 pm every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Come visit us and make the most of your membership!

Photo of the Month Contest:
We are excited to announce our “Photo of the Month” contest! We are looking for unique perspectives and captivating images of North Walsham. If you have a photo that showcases the beauty and spirit of our town, we would love to see it.

How to Participate:

  • Submit your photo along with your name.
  • Send your submission to phoenix@northwalsham.org.

The winning photo will be featured on our website and social media channels, giving you the chance to share your vision of North Walsham with the community.

We look forward to your participation and can’t wait to see your creative submissions!

Our centre is open from 10 am to 4 pm every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. We welcome everyone to visit, engage, and benefit from our services.

Tech Skills for Life: Community Tech Support

Tech Skills Team Visit:

The Tech Skills team will be with us from 10 am to 12 noon on Monday, 1st July. Don’t miss this opportunity to enhance your digital skills and gain confidence in using technology.

What Can a Community Tech Coach Do?

  • Skill Building: Help you gain the skills and confidence to use your tablet, laptop, or smartphone and ensure you’re safe online.
  • Device Borrowing: Assist you in finding out how to borrow a tablet, laptop, or smartphone.
  • Training and Courses: Suggest free training, courses, and social groups to further your tech knowledge.
  • Internet Access: Help you get internet access with free data and cheaper broadband tariffs.
  • App and Computer Use: Teach you more skills to effectively use apps and computers.
  • Device Eligibility: Check if you might be eligible for a smartphone, laptop, or tablet to keep.

Life is easier when you’ve got the right tech, the right know-how, and the confidence to use computers and smart devices. Don’t miss out because you’re not online. Access tech and learn new skills to make life easier.
