February’s Word of the Month –

Editor · 25 February 2025 ·

Quixotic

This month’s word is full of character—and maybe a little caution!

Quixotic

👉 [kwik-sot-ik]

adjective

Extremely idealistic; unrealistic and impractical

Inspired by the fictional dreamer Don Quixote, this word reminds us of the beauty (and occasional folly) of chasing grand ideas that may not quite work in reality.

Whether it describes a bold goal, a big dream, or a slightly over-the-top plan—you’ve probably had a quixotic moment or two!

✨ Have you ever gone on a quixotic quest of your own?

Better Coverage

Editor · 15 February 2025 ·

We are thrilled to announce that our Community Pantry is expanding its reach! Starting 17th February 2025, we will be extending our services beyond the NR28 postcode area to include NR10, NR11, and NR12. This expansion means more individuals and families will have access to affordable food, helping to alleviate food insecurity in our wider community.

What is the Community Pantry?

The Community Pantry is designed to provide individuals and families with affordable, high-quality food, helping to ease financial pressures. Our service is open to everyone, and for a small yearly fee (£2.50), members can access a variety of essentials.

Why Are We Expanding?

We have listened to our community and our neighbours and we want to be able to support are wider community. Many residents in the surrounding areas of North Walsham face similar challenges, and we want to ensure that more people have the opportunity to benefit from our services. By expanding our coverage, we aim to:

  • Support more households struggling with the cost of living
  • Increase the area covered by support services who visit us
  • Strengthen our local community and area, ensuring no one is left behind

February’s Question of the Month – Did Jack Valentine Visit You?

Editor · 14 February 2025 ·

💟 On the evening of February 13th, a knock at the door might just mean a visit from Jack Valentine—Norfolk’s very own mysterious gift-giver. Known for leaving small surprises on doorsteps and vanishing without a trace, Jack brings a unique touch of magic to Valentine’s celebrations.

Children (and sometimes grown-ups too!) listen eagerly for that knock, only to discover a treat with no clue who left it. It’s a charming tradition that blends mystery, kindness, and a little bit of local folklore.

🌟 Have you ever been visited by Jack Valentine?

We’d love to hear your stories and memories!

Pop in and share over a cuppa or drop us a message online—we’ll be collecting a few of our favourites for a special display.
